Meaningful knowledge braiding is grounded in accountability to place and relationships, guided by shared values, attentive to multiple ways of knowing, and supported through equitable governance, creative methods, and sustained resourcing. When these conditions are met, knowledge braiding moves beyond Indigenous knowledge inclusion and towards approaches that are relationally-grounded, place-based, and enduring. But how can the essential elements and relational accountabilities defining knowledge braiding translate into the structures and processes governing science and decision-making at regional, provincial, territorial, federal, and international levels? How can we help policies and procedures, funding systems, and science evolve to support, rather than undermine, the relationships through which knowledge is generated and applied. This panel will invite contributions and reflections from end-users with experience working at the connections and disconnects between knowledge braiding and government policy.
