Panel Abstract:
How can we enhance the outcomes of Canada’s national innovation system by upgrading our industrial research capabilities and encouraging increased investment in R & D by Canadian-based firms? An outline of the framework for industrial research in Canada with examples of corporate R&D projects undertaken with Canadian RTOs will be tabled. This will be compared with the approach to industrial research taken in European countries, where investments are made in alignment with future focussed strategic goals.

The panel will explore and seek audience input on how our industrial research capabilities could be upgraded to help us tackle technical issues to generate commercial value in the short and long term and social/environmental benefits.
