In 2018, the Canadian Science Policy Centre and the Office of the Chief Science Advisor launched Science Meets Parliament (SMP) in Ottawa to strengthen connections between researchers and Parliament. Since that first cohort, more than 250 researchers from across Canada have taken part in intensive programming that includes meetings with Parliamentarians and involvement with House and Senate committee work. SMP has since grown into a multi-province initiative, expanding to British Columbia in 2024 and Ontario in 2025.
